Lankan medical team Myanmar bound to help Nagis victims

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry has sent a special medical team from Sri Lanka to Myanmar to carry out epidemic outbreaks prevention activities after the Nagis storm hit the courts.

The team will work to prevent people in Myanmar from getting diseases, a Ministry spokesman said.

He said the Sri Lankan medical team consists of 11 doctors and six nurses.

The Government provided Rs. 30 million worth medicine and medical equipment to the people of Myanmar.

The medical team will stay in Myanmar for two weeks carrying out disease prevention and disease control activities in difficult areas. Minister de Silva sent the medical team to Myanmar on a request by the Myanmar Ambassador from President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The medical team met Minister de Silva before their departure to Myanmar.
