Vallibel acquires 6% in Hayleys for Rs 600m
The indices at the Colombo Stock Exchange declined marginally with
the broad-market ASPI coming down by 3 points (-0.1%) to end at 2,489,
while the MPI lost 4 points (-0.1%) to close at 2991 yesterday.
Vallibel Holdings acquired a 6% stake in Hayleys PLC for Rs 600
million, pushing turnover for the day to Rs 812.2 million. Transactions
in Ceylon Guardian (Rs 21.5 million) and Colombo Fort Land & Building (Rs
18.4 million) made the other notable contributions to turnover.
Associated Hotels saw its shares being suspended from dealing in view
of the proposed merger with Ceylon Hotels Corporation. Associated Hotels
is to be de-listed, making this the second de-listing in the Colombo
Bourse for this year.
The other was Millers, subsequent to its merger with Cargills.
Fortress Resorts (RHTL) reported a 22% increase in losses to Rs 182.5
million for the year ended March 2008. The company's revenue increased
by 530% to RS 222.8 million. The share closed at Rs 6.75.
Hotel Reefcomber (REEF) releasing its annual report for the financial
year ended March 2008, showed a decline in losses to Rs 0.9 million from
the previous year's loss of Rs 6.1 million. The company's net revenue
increased by 19.6% to Rs 57.3 million. REEF closed at 1.00
CT Land (CTLD), the owners of the Majestic City property, reported a
9% increase in profits to Rs 169 million for the year ended March 2008.
CTLD's revenue increased by 13.8% to Rs 234.1 million. The EPS of the
company was Rs 3.49 and the share closed at Rs 15.50.
