Japan, China, S.Korea Foreign Ministers to meet in Tokyo
JAPAN: The foreign ministers of Japan, China and South Korea will
hold a rare joint meeting in Tokyo on June 14 to discuss North Korea’s
nuclear programme, officials said Tuesday.
Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura and his counterparts —
China’s Yang Jiechi and South Korea’s Yu Myung-Hwan — will also discuss
climate change and financial aid to Africa, Japanese foreign ministry
officials said.
The meeting was announced as North Korea prepared to make a long
overdue statement accounting for its nuclear programmes as part of a
six-nation, US-backed disarmament deal.
