Body recovered from Diyawanna

Navy frogmen yesterday recovered the body of a person who had drowned in the Diyawanna Oya.

Police said that the deceased, Kalu Dewage Leelaratna (49) had gone to the canal in Kotte to take a bath on Monday between 3 to 4 pm and his family has lodged a complaint to the police as he has not returned home that night.

Leelaratna was from Beliatta and was a father of two children.

According to police observations, he had consumed alcohol before he jumped into the water and drowned.

Police had recovered Leelaratna's clothes lying on the bank of the oya.
