Seminar for plantation investors
Ravi Ladduwahetty
Investors into plantation stocks will get valuable insights into the
movement of their stocks and future prospects when a seminar theme
'Current developments in the plantation industry' jointly hosted by HNB
Stock Brokers and DFCC Stock Brokers (Pvt) Ltd gets under way at the HNB
Towers at 6.00 p.m. today.
The background to this seminar stems from the recent rises in the
plantation stocks and the plantation Index with the parallel rise in tea
and rubber prices which has been instrumental in driving the Colombo
Stock Exchange.
This is indeed a valuable opportunity for investors to get insights
whether the growth of the sector was real or whether the losses reported
in Agalawatte Plantations was a trendsetter for the other plantation
companies as well, HNB Stock Brokers General Manager/CEO Deva Ellepola
told Daily News Business last night. There will be deliberations on the
overall sector.
There will be a series of presentations which will be followed by a
panel discussion chaired by Asia Siyaka President cum CEO Anil Cooke.
The other panellists will include Director of the Rubber Research
Institute and eminent author Dr. A. Nugawela, National Institute of
Plantation Management Consultant, Dr. N. Yogaratnam, Forbes and Walker
Director U.C. Bandaranayake and Ministry of Industries Value Added Tea
Industry Committee Chairman Rohantha Athukorale.
