Easy for Negombo Marians

St. Mary's College, Negombo defeated St. Mary's College, Pitipana 3-1 in the Inter-school Under-17 Negombo Zone Soccer Tournament final worked off at Maris Stella College in Negombo recently.

The winners led 2-1 at half time. Ajantha Peiris scored twice and Darrel Alwaris scored a goal for the winners while K.N.H. Fernando scored the solitary goal for St. Mary's College, Pitipana.

Ajantha Peiris of St. Mary's College, Negombo was picked as the man-of-the-final and his teammate Ruwan Madhawa won the best goalkeeper's award.

In the semi-finals St. Mary's College, Pitipana trounced Harishchandra MV 3 nil and St. Mary's College, Negombo edged out Al Hilal National School by a solitary goal.

In the consolation final for the third place Al Hilal National School defeated Harishchandra MV by four goals to nil.
