Minister thanks Eastern voters

The Government has launched a massive development programme for Pottuvil, Kalmunai and Samanthurai areas.

Nation Building Minister Susantha Punchinilame told the Daily News that a large sum of money has been allocated to the three electorates - Rs. 253.5 million for Pottuvil Rs. 108.2 million for Samanthurai and Rs. 144.3 million for Kalmunai. In addition, 30 foreign funded projects too are being carried out in these areas.

"I wish to express my gratitude to the people of Pottuvil, Kalmunai and Samanthurai for voting for the victory of the UPFA team, though many misleading and false propaganda are being launched by anti-Government parties.

This victory was a clear endorsement by the people of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's programme to usher in permanent peace and massive development.

He said the people who voted against the Government were against the restoration of democracy through the defeat of terrorism.
