'Vesak Mihira' motorcade

The annual 'Vesak Mihira' motorcade with floats depicting the theme of Vesak organised by the Bauddhaloka Mawatha Seruwila Bauddha Madyasthanaya's 'Shanthi Foundation' under the sponsorship of the Presidential Secretariat will be conducted daily until May 18.

Devotees lined along the routes will be afforded an opportunity to offer flowers and pay homage to the Sacred Buddha Relics and the Buddha Statues, the organisers said. The routes taken by the motorcade on the respective days is as follows:

May 13 - Maharagama, Boralesgamuwa, Pepiliyana, Attiditya, Mt. Lavinia and Aluthgama.

May 14 - Ambalangoda, Kahawa, Meetiyagoda, Baddegama, Karapitiya, Galle, Akuressa, Telijjawila, Matara, Dickwella and Wewurukannala.

May 15 - Beliatta, Tangalle, Nonagama, Ambalantota, Embilipitiya, Uda Walawa, Kahawatta, Pelmadulla, Ratnapura and Eheliyagoda.

May 16 - Avissawella, Talduwa, Ruwanwella, Kotiyakumbura, Galigamuwa, Kegalle, Kandy, Galagedara and Mawathagama.

May 17 - Kurunegala, Narammala, Giriulla, Mirigama, Pasyala, Nittambuwa, Yakkala, Gampaha and Imbulgoda.

May 18 - Kadawatha, Kiribathgoda, Dalugama, Kelaniya, Biyagama, Kaduwela, Malabe, Athurugiriya, Godagama, Homagama, Kottawa, Pannipitiya, Talwathugoda, Battaramulla, Rajagiriya and Narahenpita.
