An elderly person who had been lying unconscious along the pavement near Regal Cinema, Colombo since Sunday was removed yesterday following a call made to the emergency hotline 119 by Daily News yesterday.

According to a security officer who was on duty in the area, repeated calls to the emergency hot line on Saturday had fallen on deaf ears.

The person was seen lying in the cold concrete in this commercial hub even by yesterday noon, he said.

Corporal Dissanayake said they had made several calls to 119, which had been of no avail.
