Appeal for funds to help cyclone-hit Myanmar
COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Myanmar Friendship Association has appealed
for urgent funds from the public to help people of Myanmar affected by
the recent cyclone which caused severe destruction to life and property.
The Sri Lanka Myanmar Friendship Association said.
“On May 3 Cyclone Nargis a category 3 Storm, with 3.5M Waves and
190Km per hour winds struck the Southern part of Myanmar.
There may well be over 100,000 deaths in the Delta area and 95 per
cent of the buildings have disappeared in this Delta Region. Yangon
Division, Ayeyawaddy (Irrawady) Division, Bago Division, Mon State and
Kayin State are the most affected.
We appeal to all to donate monetary contributions for this disaster.
The Embassy of the Union of Myanmar, Colombo has opened the following
