Loss to paddy harvest: GA processing data

Anuradhapura Government Agent H. M. K. Herath is processing data received from divisional secretaries to ascertain the losses caused to the paddy harvest by recent rains in the district to make compensation payments to farmers.

According to estimates, the losses caused to the paddy harvest by the recent rains is nearly Rs. 450 million. Once the final report in detail has been prepared based on information sent by Divisional Secretaries they will be submitted to the Ministry of Disaster Relief and the Ministry of Agrarian Services to release funds to make payments to the farmers at Grama Niladari Division level Herath said.

Those whose losses exceed Rs. 60,000 will be paid Rs. 20,000. Others will receive compensation proportionately as decided by the Divisional Secretaries, he said.
