Weather disturbs inaugural 'Battle of the double'

The inaugural "Battle of the Double Maroons between Madina Central
College Madawala and Azhar Central College Akurana ended in a 'No
decision' following inclement weather at the Asgiriya stadium in Kandy.
This match saw the biggest ever crowd at a big match in Kandy with
not only the schoolboys but also the residents of both township
thronging to witness the first ever battle between two Muslim Schools.
Azhar Central College taking first strike were dismissed for 142 in
42.1 overs. Deputy skipper M. A. M. Anfas became the first half
centurion in the series stroking an elegant 56 with 6 fours and a six
off 62 balls. He put on 60 for the sixth wicket with M. N. M. Mohamed
21, medium pacer M. M. Mahazir took 5 for 12.
When Madina Central batted rain stopped play after 10 overs with the
total at 31 for 2.
M. A. M. Anfaz was adjudged the Best Batsman while M. M. Manazir
carried away the Best Bowlers award. Governor of the Central Tikiri
Kobbekaduwa was the chief guest and distributed the awards.
