duties until Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda returns from abroad.
Death of Chandra Senanayake
The death occurred yesterday of T.M. Chandra Senanayake, Chief Clerk
attached to the Plantation Industries Ministry.
His remains are lying at his residence at No. 53, Madinnagoda Road,
Rajagiriya. Funeral takes place at the Borella General Cemetery this
afternoon (April 12).
Remembering Dr. S.A. Wickramasinghe

The hundred and seventh birth anniversary of late Dr. S.A.
Wickramasinghe a leader and a founder member of the Ceylon Communist
Party, a well respected politician, and a popular medical practitioner
in the South falls on April 13, 2008.
A commemorative rally - followed by offering of flowers at the foot
of the statue of Dr. S.A. Wickramasinghe at Hakmana Road, Matara is
scheduled to be held at 8.30 a.m. on April 13, 2008 according to a
spokesman for the Dr. S.A. Wickramasinghe - commemoration committee.
All local leaders of the Sri Lanka Communist Party are expected to
attend this ceremony to pay their respects to their late leader.

Provincial Minister of Agriculture R.D. Wimaladasa has paid his
attention to the news report that appeared in the Daily News about the
Kalagaswewa at Pangolla, Ibbagamuwa.
This tank which is 16 acres in extent is silted and covered with
salvinia.
The Minister visited the tank with some of his officials and promised
the farmers that the tank would be cleared up soon. Nearly 60 acres of
paddy land is cultivated under this tank. It has not been renovated for
the last two decades.
