The award and the certificate were presented by Minister of
Industrial Development, Kumara Welgama to Arpidag International at the
National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) auditorium. The
reviews, inspections and continuous audits to determine the recipients
of the awards presented by the Ministry, were carried out by the NIBM.
Director/General Manager for RPTC Pushpika Janadheera said, "Meeting
the standards set by the NIBM in order to win this award was very
challenging. Officials from NIBM continuously evaluated and audited our
operations and production processes to check whether those were on par
with the set guidelines.
Yet as a result of adopting and maintaining appropriate managerial
practices on raw material handling, energy consumption, production line
management, staff administration and sustaining 5S standards. As a
result of going through this rigorous auditing procedure, we at RPTC
also got the opportunity of availing ourselves to the latest quality and
standards practices that are prevalent in the industry."
Arpidag International introduced a revolutionary change to the tyre
industry in Sri Lanka with the introduction of a retreading process that
used pre cured treads. Arpidag tyres have become the preferred retread
tyre with a very high top of the mind recall rate in the local market as
a result of offering close to a 75% of running miles in comparison with
an original tyre.
"The quantity of treads manufactured at Arpidag Factories has
increased from 5000kg in 1991 up to 250,000kg in 2007 per month. This
remarkable increase shows the commercial success our products have
secured in the market.
This we attribute to the stringent quality control methods we have
adopted in our factories, the continuous improvements to our product
lines and adopting essential changes to our marketing approaches as and
when necessary." Janadheera said. |
