SLAF attacks Tiger suicide cadre training centre

The Security Forces destroyed a training camp of LTTE suicide cadres west of Mankulam in Kilinochchi yesterday.

Air Force jets pounded the training camp of LTTE suicide bombers at 6.15 a.m., military sources said. The target was successfully engaged, they said. Meanwhile, Air Force MI 24 helicopters destroyed an LTTE bunker line located in the south of Muhamalai.

The attack was launched in support of the ground operations conducted by the Army in that area, sources said.

LTTE cadres exploded a claymore mine in the Urasiri area of Batticaloa targeting a Special Task Force route clearing patrol at 8.25 am, yesterday.

No STF officers were killed or injured in the attack, security sources said.

The STF officers opened fire at LTTE terrorists after the attack. Two LTTE cadres were killed. The STF recovered a hand grenade, a pistol and a motorcycle after the incident.
