Council for Business with Britain hosts UK Parliamentary delegation



Delegation: Lib. Dem. MP - Andrew George, Executive Director Board of Investment, Sri Lanka - Duminda Ariyasinghe, Conservative MP - Stephen Hammond, Chairman, Council for Busienss with Britain, Anil Wijesinghe; Labour MP - Andrew Love; Labour MP - Dr. Ashok Kumar and Chairman, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Mahen Dayananda.

The Council for Business with Britain, affiliated with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, hosted the All Party - Parliamentary delegation from the United Kingdom recently.

The delegation was led by Labour MP (Co-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Sri Lanka), Andrew Love, Lib. Dem. MP (Shadow Spokesman for International Development) Andrew George, Conservative MP (Shadow Minister for Transport and Member of the All party Parliamentary Group on Sri Lanka) Stephen Hammond and Labour MP (Chair of the All party Parliamentary Group on India) Dr. Ashok Kumar.

The delegates met with officials and members of the Council for Business with Britain, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Speaking at the event, the head of the delegation Andrew Love MP stated that the group represents all major UK parties.

Their visit was made in order to foster better bi-lateral foreign and economic relations and to assist in a greater understanding of the difficulties that Sri Lanka is facing at present.

Sri Lanka has many friends in the British Parliament, the MP told the audience.

The delegation will take back to Britain the knowledge that they have gained on their trip to Sri Lanka and of its people; hoping that this will forge stronger ties with Sri Lanka.
