Royal enter Under-11 and 15 hockey finals

Royal College reached the finals of both under 11 and under 15 age groups of the Colombo Schools Hockey Tournament worked off at the Astro Turf Reid Avenue, Colombo yesterday. The tournament is conducted by the Colombo Schools Hockey Committee and sponsored by Sisil will come to an end tomorrow.

Royal stickers registered a convincing three goals to nil victory over Nalanda College after being ahead with one goal to nil at half time in the under 11 boys tournament semi final fixture played at Astro turf. T. Karunaratne, M. Gamage and M. Farikkhan netted one goal each for the winners.

Mohamed Ahmed steered D.S. Senanayake College to a one goal to nil triumph over S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia to enter the boys under 11 final. Both teams failed to score goals at breather. D.S. Senanayake College will take on Royal College in the final.

Royal College posted another resounding three goals to nil win over Ananda College in another under 15 semi final played at the same venue. The winners were well ahead with two goals to nil at short whistle. Hussein Kuthufdeen, M.V. Alas and R.M. Ishat with one goal apiece found the net for Royal College.

Nalanda College beat St. Joseph's College by one goal to nil after a scores less half time to reach the final of the under 15 boys final. Chinthaka Dilshan fought a lone battle for Nalanda scoring a goal.

In the under 11 girls semi finals Janadipathi Vidyalaya beat Yasodhara Balika Vidyalaya by a close 4 goals to 3 in the extra time as scores were tied at 3-3 at the end of the full time. Shakila Erandathi scored two goals while Ayeshani Dilrukshi and Nisali Sepali netted one goal each for the winners. Ishanki Sewwandi was the solid scorer for the losers scoring 3 goals.

Visakha Vidyalaya beat Musaeus College one goal to nil after a scores less half time in the other semi final. Yelani Perera scored the winning goal for Visakha Vidyalaya. All the finals will be played Sunday commencing at 2.00 p.m.
