Management policies to enhance development projects’ productivity, efficiency

The Plan Implementation Ministry has taken measures to introduce management policies to enhance the productivity and efficiency of development projects being implemented by the Government Institutions, Ministry Secretary, Dhara Wijethilake said.

“A special programme has been introduced by the Ministry under the theme Managing for Development Results (MfDR),” she said.

She said this is a results based monitoring and evaluation system which can be used by senior management officials and policy makers to track progress, monitor outcome, implement Government policies and projects.

Addressing the media at Hotel Taj Samudra, Wijethilake said in the first phase of this programme last year this concept was introduced to education, healthcare and nutrition, agricultural development and agrarian services, highway and road development. Wijethilake said this will help Government institutions to enhance results such as productivity and efficiency.

The input should bring successful outputs without wasting funds and energy, she said.

It will emphasise the outcome and results and ensure development effectiveness, she added.

In the second phase this programme will be introduced in the Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Ministry, Labour Relations and Manpower Ministry, Water Supply and Drainage, Urban Development and Sacred Area Development, Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion, Posts and Telecommunication, Social Service and Social Welfare, Child’s Development and Women’s Empowerment, Vocational and Technical Training, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and Constitutional Affairs and National Integration Ministries.
