SLT drives market

The market took a breather as investors cashed out on their investments.

The turnover was at Rs 547 million, while the ASPI moving down by 6 points (- 0.26%) to close at 2,570 points and the MPI moved down by 11 points (+0.35%) to end the day at 3,230 points. Turnover was again mainly driven by Sri Lanka Telecom (Rs 163 million) and Distilleries (Rs. 41 million).

Other contributors were John Keells Holdings (Rs. 31 million), Ceylon Hospitals, which owns and operates Durdans Hospital (Rs. 25 million) and Commercial Bank (Rs 17 million).

The top advancers for the day were Lanka Ashok Leyland by 44% to Rs 360.00, Blue Diamonds up 12.50% to Rs 0.90, Kuruwita Textiles 9% to Rs 44.00, Lanka Ventures by 6% to Rs 12.50 and Commercial Development up 6% to Rs 51.50.

The decliners for the day were Blue Diamonds by 14% to Rs 20.00, On’Ally Holdings by 8% to Rs 33.50, Lanka Ceramics by 8% to Rs 52.00. Lanka Cement fell 8% to Rs 40.00 a share, while Tess Agro was down by 8% to close at Rs1.20
