Police promotions

The National Police Commission which met on March 12 examined the report of the Selection Board and decided to promote the following officers in the rank of Superintendent of Police Grade I to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police.

The names in the order of merit: H.M.D. Herath, L.A. Jayasinghe, R.P.S.K. Rajapaksha, J. Abeysirigunawardana, W.P. Dayarthna, A.N.S. Mendis, V.A.S.P. Nanayakkara, F. Mitchell, H.D.A. Gunathilake, and U.P. Hewage.


Seminar for senior citizens

The first seminar organised by the geriatrics society of Sri Lanka to provide health, nutrition and recreational services to senior citizens of Sri Lanka on 'Normal changes of ageing' presented by Dr. Kingsley Ranasinha will be held at 5.00 p.m on March 14 at the Bambalapitiya Flats Community Centre Hall.

The second seminar by Dr. Harold Gunatilleke on 'Health topics on ageing' will take place at the same venue at 5.00 p.m. on 16.

All senior citizens are welcome.


Bharatha natya arangetram

The Bharatha natya arangetram of Kowthamy Kiruparatnam will be held at 5.30 p.m. on March 16 at the New Kathiresan Hall, Bambalapitiya. Kowthamy is the disciple of 'Natya Kala Shikamani' Subashini Pathmanathan. Kowthamy is the daughter of W.S. Kiruparatnam, and J. Kiruparatnam of Bambalapitya.

The Chief Guest will be Prof. Santhirasekaram, Faculty of Education, University of Colombo. Guest of Honour will be Prof. Gnana Kulenderan. Formerly Tanjavur Tamil University, Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu.


AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Mahinda College Old Boys' Association, Colombo Branch will be held at 9.00 a.m. on March 15 at the Department of Metrology, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7.


46th AGM

The 46th Annual General Meeting of the Matara Rahula College Old Boys Association Colombo Branch will be held at 6.00 p.m. on March 29 at S. De. S. Memorial Hall Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha, Dehiwala.

Scholarship for about 100 students who have qualified to enter universities will be awarded before the Annual General Meeting.

The annual dinner is organised by the Executive Committee. Nominations for office-bearers and proposals should be submitted to the Hony Secretary on or before March 15.
