Export cess on raw hides and skins increased

The Export Development and International Trade Ministry has increased the export cess on raw hides and skins.

Revised cess for raw hides and skins is 50 per cent of FOB value or Rs. 350 per kg and for the Wet state 25 per cent of the FOB value or Rs. 225 per sq. ft.

Scarcity of local leather has been a major issue on the export of leather and products and footwear.

Local tanneries are not expanding due to restrictions imposed by the Central Environment Authority.
