Delmege reaches 'A' Div: Cager final

Defending champions Delmege Group edged out DFCC Bank by a solitary point (104-103) in a thrilling semifinal match of the `A' division Mercantile Super League Basketball Tournament worked off at the Otter Aquatic Club courts.

The tournament is being conducted by the Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) and sponsored by Delmege will come to an end on Friday.

At half time Delmege cagers led the score by a single point as the scores read 55 points to 54. National caps Prageeth Pushpakumara (31), Roshan Gunasekara (21) and Roshan Randima (16) stood out for the winners while Malinda Fernando (28), Gayan Meedeniya (22) and Asanka Suwaris (21) were the main scorers for DFCC.

Sampath Bank chalked out a superb 80 points to 58 triumph over Akbar Brothers after taking a 41 points to 31 lead at the breather in the other `A' division semifinal played at the same venue.

The last year runners up Sampath Bank will battle it out against reigning champions Delmege Group in the `A' division final scheduled to be played at Otters courts on Friday.
