Josephian presentation of sacred songs

A presentation of sacred songs including Gregorian chants, polyphonic compositions, choruses and popular hymns will be held at the newly renovated chapel of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo. It will commence at 6.30 pm on March 17 Monday in the Holy Week.

Organised and presented by the 75 strong St. Cecelia’s choir of St. Joseph’s College, it will also feature Good Shepherd’s Convent, Kotahena, St. Lawrence’s Convent, Wellawatte, as well as the Choir of Scola Cantorum which includes lay people as well as priests and is based at St. Joseph’s College.

This is the third successive occasion that such a Lenten cum Easter programme of sacred songs is presented at St. Joseph’s College. Rev. Fr. Rector Sylvester Ranasinghe invites all those who wish to experience the final events of the Holy Week through songs and meditation.


AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the parent Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya (AAUP) will be held at 10 a.m. on March 23 at the E. O. E. Pereira Auditorium, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya.

D. K. Rajapaksa, Managing Director, DSI Samson Group (Pvt) Ltd., an alumnus of the University of Peradeniya, will be the Chief Guest, while Prof. H. Abeygunawardena, Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya has been invited as the Guest of Honour. Mahinda Club AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Mahinda club, an old boys organisation of Mahinda College, Galle will be held on March 16, Sunday at the OPA Auditorium (Stanley Wijesundara Mawatha, Colombo 7) starting at 9.30 a.m.


Get-together

The annual get-together of the Colombo Branch of the St. Thomas’ College Matara will be held on March 15 commencing at 6 p.m. at the Opulent Reception Hall at Nawala.


Symposium

The food and nutrition symposium of the Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition of the Wayamba University will be held on March 13 at the Makandura premises. The theme of the symposium is “Nutrition challenges and innovative solutions”. Professor T. S. G. Fonseka, Vice Chancellor of the University will be the chief guest.

Plenary lectures will be delivered by Dr. W. M. T. Majujith from the Peradeniya University on “Heading towards a healthier society. Trends in Food Science & Technology” and Professor Nimal Perera from Peradeniya University on “Contributions of animal agriculture to meet global human food demand.”


MSSC, MA results out

The results of the 2006-2007 Master of Social Science (MSSC) and MA examinations conducted by the Kelaniya University Social Science Faculty were released yesterday along with the results of the Post Degree Diploma examination in regional planning conducted by the Geography Department.

The results are also available on the Kelaniya University Web site which could be accessed on www.kln.ac.lk , said Dr. Mapa Tillakaratne Director, Kelaniya University Media Unit.
