Cops on the mat following call girl complaint

Two police officers and a Civil Defence Force member attached to Bambalapitiya police station were taken into custody for allegedly molesting a woman, police media spokesman Senior DIG N.K. Ilangakoon said.

The Police Sergeant, Constable and a Civil Defence Force member were on a night mobile detail at Upatissa Mawatha, Kollupitiya on February 26 where they raided a brothel house and arrested a call girl , DIG Ilangakoon said.

The trio had then under the pretext of taking her to the police station had driven her elsewhere and released her only the following morning, he added.

According to the DIG another police team had raided the same brothel and arrested two prostitutes including the woman who was alleged to have been sexually abused by the two policemen and the Civil Defence Force member on February 29.

“In her statement she failed to mention if she was a willing partner to the alleged sexual assault , he added.

DIG Ilangakoon said following initial investigations the suspects had been interdicted. Further action is to take following the full investigation.
