Govt's development plan for East, new hope for future

"The people of the East have new hopes for the future and the
dangerous situation which privileged has ended."
"We have planned development programmes to be carried out in the
East, said Minister T.B. Ekanayake at Kurunegala Chief Secretariat
Conference Hall recently.
He said Mahinda Rajapaksa is the most capable leader in Sri Lanka.
Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had tried to topple the
Government on several occasions, he said so far great victories have
been achieved by our Security Forces, he said.
He noted the Government has already made arrangements to develop the
East with the support of the Security Forces. Our objective is to ensure
a proper livelihood to the people despite situation which they have
faced for the past decades.
He said the Government and the UNP should be united to find a
solution to the ethnic problem. He said we have to create a peaceful
environment in the country by protecting the fundamental rights of the
people.
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Minister Jayaratne Herath
said people of Jaffna tried to gain economic benefits, But Prabakaran
does not allow them to stand on their own feet. So many natural
resources are available in the Eastern Province.
He said that is why Prabhakaran captured Sampur and several other
areas in the East in an effort to make Trincomalee the capital. But our
great heroes were able to recapture these areas.
We should salute out valiant heroes in the Armed Forces for this
great victory. When UNP signed the CFA our forces had to face threats
from the LTTE.
Wayamba PC Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation R.D. Wimaladasa
said UNP (D) group made a failed attempt to topple the Government at the
last Budget vote in November.
