Govt's development plan for East, new hope for future

"The people of the East have new hopes for the future and the dangerous situation which privileged has ended."

"We have planned development programmes to be carried out in the East, said Minister T.B. Ekanayake at Kurunegala Chief Secretariat Conference Hall recently.

He said Mahinda Rajapaksa is the most capable leader in Sri Lanka. Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had tried to topple the Government on several occasions, he said so far great victories have been achieved by our Security Forces, he said.

He noted the Government has already made arrangements to develop the East with the support of the Security Forces. Our objective is to ensure a proper livelihood to the people despite situation which they have faced for the past decades.

He said the Government and the UNP should be united to find a solution to the ethnic problem. He said we have to create a peaceful environment in the country by protecting the fundamental rights of the people.

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Minister Jayaratne Herath said people of Jaffna tried to gain economic benefits, But Prabakaran does not allow them to stand on their own feet. So many natural resources are available in the Eastern Province.

He said that is why Prabhakaran captured Sampur and several other areas in the East in an effort to make Trincomalee the capital. But our great heroes were able to recapture these areas.

We should salute out valiant heroes in the Armed Forces for this great victory. When UNP signed the CFA our forces had to face threats from the LTTE.

Wayamba PC Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation R.D. Wimaladasa said UNP (D) group made a failed attempt to topple the Government at the last Budget vote in November.
