Minister orders urgent medical needs for hospitals

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has instructed Health Supplies Division to provide medication, medical equipment and other requirements needed during emergencies to all main hospitals immediately, a Ministry spokesman said.

All main hospitals should maintain stocks of these items for one month, the Minister had said when he visited the National Hospital, Colombo recently to inquire about in-house patients receiving treatment after being injured following bomb explosions in the North and Colombo.

During the inspection tour, the Minister inquired about the treatment given to the patients and whether more drugs, medical equipment or anything else were required. De Silva instructed the authorities to meet patients' requirements at the National Hospital.
