Independence celebrations in Cuba
The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP) organized a
friendly meeting to mark the 60th anniversary of Sri Lanka's
Independence.
The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People's (ICAP) organised
a friendly meeting on February 1 to mark the 60th anniversary of
Independence. Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcos Rodriguez
Costa and Deputy Minister of Foreign Investment Ramon Ripoll, Government
officials, officials of the Communist Party, Diplomats of the Asian
region and representatives of the Cuban organisations along with the
embassy staff and their family members and Sri Lankan students
participated.
Vice President of ICAP, Buenaventura Reyes Acosta presided over the
meeting. Buenaventura gave an account of solidarity activities between
the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in
1959. Sri Lankan Ambassador Kirthi Sigera said Sri Lanka has achieved
many goals and there are many challenges ahead.
The cordial and friendly bonds between the two countries have been
going from strength to strength, he said.
A cultural presentation was also held. |
