Young inventor seeks Government intervention

A young Sri Lankan engineer who has received the patent for
manufacturing a Magnetic Powered Motor which could solve the country's
power crisis is awaiting Government support.
Sudath Sunimal Perera gave up his dollar income job in a merchant
ship as an Electrical Engineer to develop his new invention for the
country two years ago, but he is disappointed that the authorities have
not taken action to get the benefit of this invention.

The National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka has informed
him by a letter that his search report is ready for publication but
Perera is worried that the country might lose this opportunity unless
they act fast.
According to him the magnet device required for his product cannot be
manufactured in Sri Lanka and the support of a country who could
manufacture that type of product has to be obtained with the
Government's support.
Perera's new invention can be used as major solution for the world
wide power crisis. Further it can be used as an alternative power
source.

"There is no external or internal combustion and no environment
pollution or any type of harmful substances and this mechanism is
relatively simple and very safe" he said.
The low cost of preventive and corrective maintenance is another
advantage. He pointed out that all other plants such as hydro power
generating plants and thermal power plants have a lot of environmental
impacts.
But the new invention is not using any oxygen or any other gases and
it is powered by the permanent magnet so this system can be considered
as a natural powered machine, he said. Perera has earlier received an
international patent for his invention from the International
intellectual body in Geneva, as well.
He invented a solar power aircraft and a power generation device
which is also a low energy consumption device.
The NASA has expressed interest in his inventions. Sudath is an old
boy of Holy Cross College Kalutara and has a double Diploma in
Electrical Engineering with City and Guild and Open University Colombo. |
