Thilini, Chandrika win silver

Sri Lankan women’s doubles pair Chandrika de Silva and Thilini Jayasinghe won a silver medal at the Iran International Badminton championship which concluded in Tehran, Iran.

Sri Lanka’s top seeds Chandrika and Thilini lost the final to Malaysian pair Yan Lu Lim and Mosalitha Baharum in straight sets 21-12, 21-15. Meanwhile the in the men’s doubles event Karunaratne brothers Diluka and Dinuka managed to win the bronze medal. They lost to Malaysian duo Abdul Latif and Wontan Mavan in the semis.

Earlier in the singles Niluka lost the Malaysia’s top seed Abdul Latif in the semi final after beating Pakistan Wajid Ali in the quarters.

Sri Lankan shuttlers are expected to participate in the Thomas - Ubar Cup Badminton Championships which is scheduled to be played from February 18-24 in Vietnam.
