Defence Secretary intervenes to streamline hospital supplies

COLOMBO: A shortage of drugs and oxygen in the hospitals in Mannar and Vavuniya districts that had arisen due to the implementation of new security measures was resolved with Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s intervention.

The Defence Secretary took speedy action to streamline the transportation of essential drugs and oxygen to the hospitals so that a normal medical service would continue as before in the districts.

Speaking on the drugs and oxygen scarcity in the districts, Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister Rishard Badiudeen said: “The stocks are being transported to the district hospitals without delay as in the past under the new arrangements on the Defence Secretary’s instructions”.
