WPC UNP councillors walk out

COLOMBO: Western Provincial Council United National Party councillors walked out from the Tuesday session claiming that the recommendations of the Commission appointed to probe malpractices and irregularities were not submitted before the council so far.

Raising an objection about the councillors' privileges, UNP Councillor Douglas M. Fernando pointed out that eventhough the Council's opposition Leader had requested to submit the Commission recommendations the Chief Minister was unable to do it.

"This is how the privileges of Councillors are protected today.

Council session proceeds without the Chief Minister," he added.
