NARAHENPITA: Media and Information Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena
asserted that the Government will move forward with a vision and a
mission, and will not be deterred by any impediments on its way.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet news briefing at the Government
Information Department Auditorium in Narahenpita yesterday, the Minister
said the Deyata Kirula exhibition has been scheduled for February 7 to
10, under heavy security , to ensure the safety of the crowds attending
the exhibition.
He said all invited institutions had voluntarily and spontaneously
participated to make the informative and educational exhibition a
memorable event.
“We intend to show that all the media institutions, loosely divided
as state and private media, could and would participate as one family,
under one banner”.
He reiterated that the Government would not be shaken under any
circumstances in which the terrorists would strive to sabotage the
event.
“We will not under any circumstances bring down the Armed Forces
which have been deployed in the outstations,” he said.
Abeywardena also thanked the Tamil civilians who had protested
against the LTTE atrocities in Vavuniya, and urged them to rally round
the Government in solidarity. |
