54 Wayamba campus students arrested

KULIYAPITIYA: Fifty Four students of Wayamba University were arrested by Kuliyapitiya Police yesterday when they ignored the decision of University administration to shut down the campus for academic activities until further notice.

According to the information the university was closed down and academic activities terminated due to student agitation since January 10.

But some students refused to accept the order to evacuate the University premises until today.

The students were taken into custody following a complaint made by Vice-Chancellor of the University.
