Visakha in convincing win over Yashodara

Visakha Vidyalaya posted a convincing eight goals to four win over Yashodara Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo after being well ahead with six goals to two at half time in their on going Under 11 girls Colombo Schools Hockey Tournament fixture played at Astro Turf, Reid Avenue, Colombo, yesterday.

The tournament is being conducted by the Colombo Schools Hockey Association and will come to an end with the finals on February 15.

Yelani Perera gave an excellent show for the winners where she scored a massive seven goals with her team mate Nadeesha Senarath scored a goal to bring their tally 8 goals to 4. Siththi Amra and Pavani Yasora scored two goals apiece for the losers.

In another girls match played at the same venue Musaeus College beat Sirimavo Bandaranaike Girls’ College by one goal to nil after taking a one goal to nil lead at short whistle. Rashmi Ratnayake was the lone warrior (1) for the winners.

In the boys matches worked off yesterday at the same venue, D.S. Senanayake College chalked out an easy victory over Ashoka College, Colombo by three goals to nil. The former were well leading two goals to nil at breather.

Wesley College defeated St. Benedict’s College by a narrow two goals to one in another fixture. The scores were tied one all at half time. Shakeel and Akeel with one goal each were the scorers for the winners while Siraj fought a lone battle for bens scoring a goal.

In an earlier matches, St. Peter’s College held to a nil all draw with St. Benedict’s College, Yasodhara girls had the better of Sirimavo BMV by one goal to nil with Siththi Amra found the winning goal a few minutes before the end of the match.
