RAFIK JALALDEEN
Peace, safety and security are vital to build a developed, beautiful
and clean country for the next generation. The public should be vigilant
and assist the three Forces and Police to fight terrorism, Director of
the Community Police Service Colombo Central Police Area SSP I. S.
Karunaratne said.
Addressing an awareness programme conducted by the Community Police
Service Colombo Police Area - Fort on the current security situation for
ANCL employees, SSP Karunaratne said living in peace meant living
without terrorism.
"As long as terrorism last, there is no peace," he added.
He stressed the importance of public support and their contributions
towards the country's national security. "Terrorists have no mercy, race
or ethnicity. They will kill anyone," he added.
The public should be vigilant at public places they work. We all are
gifted with sixth sense. We should use this sixth sense to observe and
detect terrorist movements. While being vigilant, we can prevent or
minimise terrorist activities," PC Abeysinghe said.
He said terrorists are using many ways to destroy and create mayhem
in the country.
"They use various ways to enter the Colombo city. By financing the
poor and beggars they carry out their activities. Terrorists can
approach the target in different ways and methods. If we are cautious
and watchful we can avert many diasters and save many lives," he added. |
