SriLankan employees assured of better future
Chairman SriLankan Airlines, Harry Jayawardane has assured employees
that the airline would be made a profit-generating venture in the
future.

Jayawardena addressed SriLankan Airlines staff at Katunayake recently
following the Government announcement of the change of hands in
management of the airline from April 1.
Jayawardena reaffirmed the Government's confidence in the staff's
capability to run the airline successfully and asked for their fullest
co-operation and support in the future.
The Chairman said that under the Emirates management he did not have
his own way and virtually had nothing to do. "However now with Emirates
not in the picture I have better control of the airline to implement new
strategies," he said.
He also promised to address the grievances of the employees and
pilots. Upgrade of routs and aircraft are also on the cards under the
new management.
Emirates which had 43.6 shares in the airline decided not to renew
their contract for a further 10 year period and the Government has
decided to go ahead with a local management.
The Government has assured there would be no political interference
for the management.
