Health Minister reveals conspiracy against him

Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva yesterday revealed a conspiracy being hatched by multinational companies to kill him after his orders to issue prescription with generic names.

Speaking at a ceremony in Colombo, the Minister said the multinational companies wanted to physically remove me from the scene as they did to the first Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Corporation Chairman Prof. Senaka Bibile who was committed to free the innocent patients from the multinational companies' grip.

"I will never stop serving the poor and helpless fearing death", the Minister said. The doctors were ordered to issue prescriptions with generic names of the drugs to save poor people's hardly earned money and prevent them from being exploited by multinational companies.

Certain elements who lose profits and the opportunity to exploit innocent patients have emerged against this move. At the moment, they are trying their best to get rid of this new regulation and the person who brought it", the Minister said.

"The history and the destiny have assigned me a duty and I will never shun my responsibility and the duty towards the needy and innocent people for fear of death", he said.

Prof. Senaka Bibile who was serving the public with his knowledge and patriotic stand was murdered as a result of an International level conspiracy launched by multinational companies.
