A bold new direction, leadership and vision were very evident at the recently concluded Annual General Meeting of the Accredited Advertising Agencies Association hosted at H2O.

The AGM saw the election of well known industry mover and shaker Laila Gunasekera Martenstyn as the new President for the year 2008 , and also saw a balanced Board of industry veterans mixed with relative newcomers being elected to support her.

Outgoing President Rohan Rajaratnam, remarked that the association responded to the occasions where it was called upon to fulfill both roles of leaders and spokesman for the advertising industry. He stated that the association was instrumental in attempting to resolve key industry issues with both the Heads of Electronic Media Institutions and even with the Central Bank.

He also stated that he had received great support from key members of the association whom he thanked for their contributions specially towards the education and training programmes that were conducted as part of the year's calendar.

He also recognized the contributions made by key members of the association in the formulation and conduct of key industry events such as the Chillies 2007 and the upcoming SLIM Effies.
