Perera, Controller General P.B. Abeykoon, CEO Mobitel Suren Amarasekara, International Roaming Coordinator Mobitel K. Seneviratne, GM Corporate Planning Mobitel J. Jayalath, Senior Manager Legal Mobitel N. Rathnayake, Manager International Roaming, Mobitel Isuru Dissanayake.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration handles the arrivals and departures of more than 6 million sea and air passengers annually. In recognition of their exceptional performance, the department has been awarded with the coveted first place at the National Productivity Awards in 2006.

The embarkation/disembarkation card will employ a new format which is designed to make computerisation and collection of information trouble free. This card plays a major role in containing the details of passengers, and is of importance not only to the Immigration department, but also to the Tourist Board and to the Department of Census and Statistics as well.

With this upgrade it is possible to enhance the quality of information gathered from these cards, which in turn will be utilized productively to develop the tourism industry.

Controller General, Department of Immigration and Emigration P.B. Abeykoon said, "This is a historic moment for the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka, as it is the first time that this card is to be done in partnership with an external organization.

We are indeed happy to join hands with Mobitel, the National Mobile Service Provider, which we consider as a move that will strengthen our organization greatly.
