Nugegoda pavement vendors to continue

The pavement vendors in the Nugegoda junction evicted by the police recently has once again got the consent to continue with President Mahinda Rajapaksa intervening in the matter heeding to a request by Western Provincial Council member Duminda Silva.

The Police took steps to demolish temporary stalls and evict pavement vendors from the Nugegoda junction citing security concerns.

These pavement vendors has been plying their trade in Nugegoda junction for a long time, and considering the impact to their livelihoods, specially during the festive season, the President has intervened to restore their business.

According to some of these vendors this is one of the best periods for them considering the business boom during the festive season, and the ban if it was in force could have affected them drastically.
