Special bus, train services for festive season

Special bus and train services will be operative during the festive season for the convenience of the public. Road Passenger Transport Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna said the Ministry has made arrangements for special bus and train services with the Sri Lanka Transport Board, Railways Department and Provincial Transport boards.

"There will be enough buses and trains during the festive season," the minister said. "It is true that some workers have gone home for holidays because of consecutive holidays, but the services have been kept in tact," Alagiyawanna said.

Meanwhile, sources at the Sri Lanka Railways said railway services will be available for the public during the festive season.

The Railway Department was working to resume its passenger train services on the Colombo-Galle track which was affected when a train plying from Colombo to Galle derailed (Picture on page 10) between Ahangama and Koggala last Saturday.
