The Shanghai Fair became the first choice for an international jewellery bonanza in eastern China in the second half of year.

Encouraging results were recorded at the 2006 edition of the Fair, with 6,401 buyers from 48 countries and regions attending, while domestic buyers came from 24 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

The total number of visitors last year represented a 19 percent increase compared with the 2005 Fair.

The 2007 edition was the largest in the Show’s three year history and set records in terms of visitors, exhibitors and exhibition space.

Continuing last year’s success, the third edition attracted over 150 exhibitors from the USA, Italy, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey including Sri Lanka to feature their exclusive products.

A variety of magnificent jewellery products of excellent craftsmanship showcased at the four-day event, included glistening gold jewellery, fashionable platinum and silver jewellery, prestigious pearl, diamond, Jade and gem set jewellery, fine diamonds and fine quality gems.

The “Sri Lanka Pavilion” at ‘China Gold Jewellery and Gem Fair 2007’ was organised by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) for the second time.

The “National Pavilion” displayed a glittering array of gems and jewellery from Sri Lanka presented by eight members of the trade. It attracted buyers from China and other leading consuming countries.

The members of the “National Pavilion” were successful in securing orders for gems and fine quality jewellery and establishing its position as the leading producer of fine quality Blue Sapphires to the global market.

In addition to “NGJA” official, two representatives of Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA) participated in the National Pavilion, promoting “FACETS Sri Lanka’ - the Sri Lanka International Gem and Jewellery Show and important buyers to the fair accepted the invitation extended by ‘SLGJA’ to visit ‘Facets” Sri Lanka in September 2008.
