Australian Foreign Minister congratulates Murali

The Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith in a congratulating message to Muttiah Muralidharan on breaking the Test Wicket Record states, “I would like to relay my congratulations to Muttiah Muralidharan on breaking the Test wicket-taking record.

The previous Test wicket-taking record was held by retired Australian leg spin bowler, Shane Warne, with 708 wickets.

The achievements of these two great spinners have been closely watched in Australia and are a source of inspiration for fans in both of our cricketing countries. I wish him all the best for the remainder of the series against England and for the future.”
