Toppling Government no remedy in present situation - Liberal

Though the budget for 2008 presented in Parliament is not
satisfactory. Toppling this Government is no answer to the ongoing
crisis, Kamal Nissanka Leader, Liberal Party told the media.
He said the Opposition cannot be regarded as a meaningful opposition
as they have not criticised the budget meaningfully and in a proficient
manner.
The Liberal Party states it opposes the tax policy of the Government
and it feels that they have no remedial measures to control rising
inflation.
He said the Liberal Party feels that voting against the budget by the
JVP is only for mere political gain.
The Liberals said the country faces a threat from the separatist
forces all over the world and therefore the Liberal Party says that all
anti-separatist parties should be united under the leadership of
President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Liberal Party Leader told the media though the Government falls,
the President would continue for his term of service. Therefore toppling
the Government is no remedy for the present crisis. |
