Shed differences and extend help to President - Minister Maithripala Sirisena

Disunity is the cause for all ills in the country, people are not rallying round the leader of the country to solve the problems faced by the nation. Some are not worried even if the internal security or the nation is doomed.

The sole intention of such politician is to gain power said Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services Development Minister Maitripala Sirisena.

Minister Sirisena said even to gain power there should be a country.

We have now reached a juncture where we should safeguard the security of the State, therefore all must shed differences to extend their helping hand to the leader of the country to steer the country on a safe path.

The Minister was addressing members of the Senior Citizens National organisation Matara district at a meeting held at the Matara Nupe Old Dutch Market Complex premises.

He said it is the concept of the president Mahinda Rajapaksa to build a broad-based organisation of senior citizens.

It is now moving forward with great vigour Retired Govt. Servants with experience in various fields are an asset to the country.

They could pilot the affairs of the country with the wealth of experience behind them. The Minister said it is time to bring them together for the good of the country as without unity nothing could be done, the country cannot go forward without unity among all. Therefore the senior citizens organisation should be well-protected.

Chief Co-ordinating Secretary of the President Vajira Irugal Bandara said, this organisation is free of all differences. Senior citizens could do their best to eliminate drug-addiction, promote educational matters and safeguard the security of the nation. Dr. J.R.P. Suriyapperuma, Ex-Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri and Presidents Co-ordinating Secretary Matara District Aruna Gunaratna also spoke.
