Rs. 7.5m for Balapitiya fisheries harbour

Arrangements have been made to build a fisheries harbour at Brahmanawatta, Balapitiya in Galle district.

The new harbour will be equipped with modern facilities for the benefit of fishermen in the area.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has voted Rs. 7.5 million for the project.

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Felix Perera visited the site recently.

Construction work on this harbour is scheduled to commence shortly according to a senior official of the Department of Fisheries.
