50,000 jobs in Libya for Lankans
Libya will offer more than 50,000 job opportunities to Sri Lankans by
next year, the government said yesterday.
As a positive response to a request made by Sri Lanka, Libya has
extended their willingness to offer more than 50,000 employment
opportunities for Sri Lankans by next year, an official release said.
The request was made by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE)
from the government of Libya. Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare
Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
in this regard with his Libyan counterpart in January next year.
Discussions related to the programme were held in Colombo last week
between Rambukwella and Essa Ahamed Emhemed, Libyan ambassador in Sri
Lanka.
There are a large number of vacancies in the fields of tourism,
construction and trade besides ports and airports where Sri Lankans can
find work.
Rambukwella said steps will be taken to provide foreign jobs in a
transparent manner by inviting applications through newspaper
advertisements and through labour officials deployed in all districts. |
