Chinese aid for Southern Province

The Datang International Power Generation Company, Ltd., China has
agreed to construct a 300 MW generating coal power plant in the Southern
Province.
A delegation of high ranking officials from the Datang Power Group
Company has expressed their willingness to construct the power plant
recently at a meeting with Enterprise Development and Investment
Promotion Minister Sarath Amunugama.
The meeting between Minister Sarath Amunugama and the delegation was
held at the Ministry of Enterprise Development where the Chinese power
giants had discussed various investments they have carried out in other
countries in power generation and potential investment in Sri Lanka for
this, Ministry sources said.
The officials of Datang Power Group Company had come to Sri Lanka as
a result of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's visit to China, sources said.
The delegation comprised the Company's President and the Chairman Zhai
Ruoyu, his secretary Jia Bingjun, directors Cao Jingshan, Fang Quinghai,
Zhou Gang, Wei Youan, Kou Bingen, Liu Yan, Liu Yongjun and Yang Haibo.
Datang is reportedly the China's biggest power producing company. The
Datang International Power Generation Company is the first Chinese
company to have been enlisted in the Hong Kong and London share market
index. |
