Thirty nine teams for Mercantile Rugby Sevens

Thirty nine Teams will participate in the 37th Mercantile Rugby "Sevens" conducted by the Mercantile Rugby Football Association and sponsored by Dialog Satellite TV, to be worked off from November 16 to 18, 2007 at Longden Place.

For the first time, the duration of the tournament has been extended to three days.

Day one, Friday 16th November from 4.00 pm to 10.00 pm (underlights)

Day two, Saturday, 17th November from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.

Day three, Sunday, 18th November from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm (underlights)

The 39 teams were pooled into three segments at the groupings held at the CR & FC pavilion, on Monday with the participation of the teams. "Cup" & "Plate" Championships (10 teams)

Pool "A": Seylan Bank (2006 winner), MAS Group "A", Emjay International, Hirdaramani Group "A" and Commercial Bank.

Pool "B": Ceylinco Group "A" (2006 runners-up), John Keells Group "A", MAS Group "B" , Sampath Bank and Amana Takaful "A". "Bowl" Championship (16 teams)

Pool "C": Singer Sri Lanka, Brandix, HSBC Data Processing and Muslim Commercial Bank.

Pool "D": Dialog Telekom "A", John Keells Group "B", Ceylinco Group "B" and Sri Lankan Airlines.

Pool "E': Hirdaramani Group "B", E-wis, Lanka Bell and Amana Takaful "B".

Pool "F": HSBC, MAS Group "C", Powerscan and Std. Chartered Bank "Shield" Championships (13 teams)

Pool "G": Dialog Telekom "B", Metropolitan Group, Bartleets and MAS Group "D"

Pool "H": J Walter Thompson, Virtusa and Pan Asia Bank.

Pool "I": Hirdaramani Group "C", NDB Bank and Suntel.

Pool "J": Sri Lanka Insurance, Forbes & Walker and Browns Group.

Women's Tournament (03 teams)

Slimline, MAS Group and Synergy.

A Carnival atmosphere will prevail at the CR and FC grounds on all three days with a live Band, Hawker Street Food Stalls, and entertainment for kids as well.
