Pakistan Golfers impress on day one
SL Amateur Golf C'ships:
Richard Dwight
The Royal Colombo Golf Club, the venue for the 120th Sri Lanka
Amateur open golf championship and sponsored by the Golf union - was a
pleasant sight to behold, for bathed in glorious sunshine lst morning,
with the fairways and greens glistening amidst a fair amount of blowing
did make conditions near perfect for the opening day of the prestigious
main championship which concludes on Friday.
Apart from the nationals the subsidiary competitions began on last
saturday along with the A and B teams of Sri Lanka, the foreign teams
taking part are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and philippines. The
ladies teams are from India and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan golfers Mohamed Safdar, Khan, Danywal Jehangir and Tariq
Mehmood did well in the first round, with equally good performances from
Sri Lanka's K. Prabagaran, Mithum Perera and Johonel Ababa of the
Philippines.
The difference between the six of these golfers is Marginal, they are
at the moment leading the rest and with 3 more round soft golf to go
much could happen.
